In collaboration with partners specialized in the cycle-logistics industry and energy sustainability, SUM presents H2 Cargo Bike project at We Make Future 2024 in Bologna Fiere.
The project, co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, aims to design hydrogen-powered quadricycles for urban logistics.
The consortium, including SUM and CTS H2 SRL startups, AESS Energy and Sustainable Development Agency and Basque Country Mobility and Logistics Cluster, has started H2 Cargo Bike pilot project aiming at creating SUM X hydrogen-powered quadricycles to revolutionize urban last-mile delivery.
From June 13 to 15, SUM will participate in the 2024 edition of WMF – We Make Future, the international fair on Digital, AI and Tech innovation, at pavilion 25, booth B33 at Bologna Fiere, where the team will be pleased to unveil all the latest updates on this European project.
Featuring ultra-lightweight carbon fiber frame, these vehicles can carry loads of over 150 kg, with high operational efficiency thanks to FCH swappable cylinder technology. This technology generates electrical energuy to power the electric motor’s battery, eliminating the need for fixed refueling stations and making refueling operations easier and faster.
This initiative, promoted by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), represents a significant step forward in reducing carbon emissions and promoting a greener and more sustainable future. The advantages of this technology will be demonstrated in Italy and Spain, specifically in Modena and San Sebastián, as these cities are currently without hydrogen refueling stations.
By combining advanced technologies and sustainable solutions, hydrogen-powered Cargo Bikes will offer an efficient and clean alternative to traditional models, helping to improve air quality and reduce urban pollution. This innovation underscores the consortium’s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for sustainable urban mobility.
